For being eligible to incentives (feed-in-tariffs) when installing a small residential PV system (<10 kW), a part of the building's hot water needs must be covered by renewable energy sources such as solar thermal systems. The only authorities involved in authorization are the local branch of the Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO, which issues a grid-connection offer) and the Public Power Corporation (PPC) (or any other electricity retailer) with which a “compensation agreement” is being signed. As of winter 2011, installation of rooftop systems on listed buildings is not allowed.

Choice of provider-installer

Contract with provider-installer. There is a broad network of installers around the country. Most of them have agreed upon and signed a code of Good Practice for Residential PV systems, based on a Guide prepared by the Center for Renewable Energy Sources (CRES) with the help of the Hellenic Association of Photovoltaic Companies (HELAPCO). A Ministerial Decision signed in 2009 has assigned this role to CRES. The list of installers as well as the Good Practice Guide can be found on line at the CRES website: http://www.cres.gr/pvcatalog/DoIt
